CrossFit Games Will Continue After Lazar Dukic’s Death

After the tragic death of Serbian athlete Lazar Đukić during the swim portion of the CrossFit Games’ opening event at Marine Creek Lake, the competitions and events were paused for the remainder of the day. Despite the shock to the CrossFit community, organizers decided to continue the Games in Fort Worth starting Friday.

This decision followed “careful thought” and discussions with both athletes and Đukić’s family. The Games will resume with a 10 a.m. ceremony on Friday to honor Đukić.

The ceremony honoring Lazar Đukić will take place at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, the main venue for the CrossFit Games. Scheduled to start at 10 a.m., the tribute will be followed by an 11 a.m. team event. The day’s schedule includes a full lineup of events, ensuring that the competitions continue while paying respects to Đukić’s memory. This tribute reflects the community’s commitment to honoring his legacy while moving forward with the Games.
