Like millions of Americans, I donned my black sequined dress and my friendship bracelets and made a pilgrimage to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for Taylor Swift’s now-legendary “Eras” tour. For three glorious hours, I sang along to “Shake It Off,” swayed to “Champagne Problems” and bobbed my head to “Karma.”
And then…the next day, I wiped off smudged eyeliner and rinsed off copious amounts of hairspray and I did what any CrossFit athlete would do. I thought to myself, “I wonder if anyone has made a WOD named for Taylor Swift or one of her songs?” Because…I’d sweat it out for a Taylor-themed workout (in my Taylor tank and friendship bracelets)!
It turns out – there are! Multiple TSwift workouts, in fact! I have to call out CrossFit 1013 of Bensenville, IL for their entire Tay LINE-UP of workouts (and the hilarity of making “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” a partner WOD).

This discovery sparked my curiosity. At CrossFit, coaches and athletes enjoy theming workouts. There’s WODs for holidays (12 Days of Christmas, anyone?), for religious observances (Good Friday/Jesus WOD), for girls (Ohhhh, the Girls – Cindy, Fran, Grace, my home girls), and of course, the revered and rightly so Hero WODs.
And, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that my coach names workouts after candies! If you need a calorie burst and none of the sugar high, I recommend Jellybeans at CrossFit Levo – tell them Kendra sent you.
